Grandmaster Huang Sheng Shyan (1910–1992), born in Fuzhou , Fujian, China, was one of the most influential Tai Chi masters of the 20th century. He was a senior student of the renowned Professor Cheng Man-ch’ing and later developed his own system—Tai Chi Huang—by integrating elements of Xingyi, White Crane, and traditional Daoist internal practices.

Grandmaster Huang emphasized “relaxation as the foundation,” promoting a Tai Chi that is soft yet lively, deeply internal yet profoundly practical. His approach to training cultivates inner strength, clarity of mind, and harmonious movement, aligning body and spirit.

From the 1950s onward, Grandmaster Huang dedicated himself to teaching in Malaysia, Singapore, and eventually Australia, where he spread his teachings internationally. Today, his legacy continues through his direct disciples and family lineage, forming the heart of the Tai Chi Huang tradition. His teachings live on not merely as martial techniques but as a complete path of inner cultivation and health.

At the heart of our Foundation is a deep reverence for Grandmaster Huang’s teachings. We are proud to carry forward his legacy, upholding the spirit of “One Family in Tai Chi,” ensuring the wisdom of Tai Chi Huang continues to flourish for generations to come.
