Master Huang Sheng-shyan Defeats Southeast Asian Wrestling Champion Liao Kuang-cheng 26:0

In 1970, 60- years- old Master Huang Sheng-shyan participated in a 50- years- old "Chinese-Western Martial Arts Contest" against world wrestling champion Liao Kuang-cheng to raise funds for the Kuching Old Folks Home. Master Huang achieved a remarkable victory with a score of 26 to 0, a feat that resonated globally. This video captures the match, as recorded by the Singapore press at the time. The match followed wrestling rules, prohibiting strikes, and you can see the distinct Tai Chi techniques in Master Huang's throws. While some sources claim Liao Kuang-cheng was the Southeast Asian Wrestling Champion, this is unverified. However, contemporary Singaporean media coverage confirms that the match held significant weight, making it unlikely that Liao was an ordinary opponent.
